About Oregon Anti-Crime Alliance
The Oregon Anti-Crime Alliance is an organization that brings together citizens with a mission of reducing crime in Oregon. This will be accomplished through reforms affecting prevention, investigation, prosecution, the courts, indigent defense, accountability, transition programs, prison work, treatment, and rehabilitation. We are actively engaged in Oregon communities and in legislation and statewide policy development. We want the public to better understand the positions of our political leaders and issues affecting criminal justice.
Our Mission:The Oregon Anti-Crime Alliance seeks to reduce crime and enhance public safety by bringing Oregon’s citizens together to reform Oregon’s government and policies.
2009 Agenda:
• Develop legislative agenda on crime for the 2009 legislative session which reflects the agendas of many other groups we work with: sheriffs, chiefs of police, Oregon State Police Officers Association, district attorneys, and others
• Guide and support the legislative agenda on crime for the 2009 Legislative Session
• Support key initiatives that strengthen Oregon’s public safety
OAA Key Anti-Crime Issues:
• Ensuring complete implementation of Measure 57 which toughens sentences for drug and property crimes and provides for drug treatment for certain offenders.
• Upholding Measure 11 which requires mandatory prison sentences for violent crimes.
• Upholding Measure 17 with requires that prisoners participate in full-time useful work.
• Increasing Oregon’s state trooper level to the same level of patrol that existed in the 1970s (1 trooper to every 5000 citizens).
