Playing Cards Hope To Solve Crimes

(Portland, OR)—Police detectives in Portland, Oregon are hoping bored inmates will help them solve some homicides by playing cards.

Soon jail commissaries will be selling decks of cards with pictures and names of murder victims with information about their deaths on them.

Sergeant Paul Weatheroy says he learned of the practice while at a seminar in California and pitched the idea when he returned to work at the Portland Police Bureau.

Each of the cards will contain a toll-free tip line number and promise a reward for valuable information.

Portland police, along with Crime Stoppers, hope to have the new cards in jails by June 1st.

The cards are modeled on the U.S. military's "Iraqi Most Wanted" decks given to soldiers to help identify terrorists.
